Summary

Saxena, Yadav post centuries for Rajasthan

Mumbai, Dec 13: Vineet Saxena (127) and Puneet Yadav (108) helped hosts Rajasthan post 369 for the loss of seven wickets against Saurashtra in Jaipur in the first day of the Ranji encounter between the two sides. Siddharth Trivedi claimed four wickets for the visitors, including those of the centurions, and the important wicket of Rajasthan captain Hrishikesh Kanitakar, while Jaidev Unadkat sent back Robin Bist and Rashmi Parida.

UPCA v Mumbai: After a delayed start due to fog, Mumbai posted 203 for the loss of three wickets against UPCA in Lucknow. The visitors opened with Kaustubh Pawar and Sushant Marathe. After a 189-run opening stand, centurion Marathe was the first to depart, sent back by Bhuvnesh Kumar who also claimed the key wicket of Abhishek Nayar soon after. Play was called off after Piyush Chawla trapped Pawar lbw for 76.

Railways v Orissa: Opting to bat first, Railways had lost five wickets for 204 runs after electing to bat at the Karnail Singh Stadium in Delhi against Orrisa. Biplab Samantray took two wickets while Alok Mangaraj, Paresh Patel and Govind Podder picked one each.

Haryana v MPCA: Naman Ojha's 160 powered Madhya Pradesh to 278 for the loss of three wickets against Haryana on Day 1 of the Ranji Trophy encounter at the Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium in Rohtak. Haryana pacer Harshal Patel picked two wickets while Ashish Hooda took one.

Bengal v Delhi: Bengal were reduced to 252 for the loss of eight wickets at the Eden Gardens by Delhi after choosing to bat. Ashok Dinda was the leading wicket-taker for Delhi with a four-for. The pacer was supported by Iresh Saxena who claimed three scalps while Laxmi Shukla and V Pratap Singh took one apiece.

Gujarat v Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu posted 283 for the loss of two wickets after winning the toss and opting to bat at the Sardar Patel Stadium in this Ranji Trophy Elite - Group B match. Although the visitors lost opener Murali Vijay for naught in the first over, Abhinav Mukund and S Bardinath (102) scored centuries. At stumps, Mukund was unbeaten on 150 with Dinesh Karthik batting on 25 at the other end. Ishwar Choudhary was the only bowler to claim wickets for the hosts, trapping M Vijay and Badrinath lbw.

Karnataka v Punjab: Opting to bat first, Punjab were 278 for the loss of four wickets against Karnataka at stumps on Day 1 in Bangalore.
