Aparajith scalps five after Bancroft’s 150; Aus A lead by 194 with a wicket in hand
Australia A finished Day-two of the second unofficial Test against India A in Chennai on 329 for 9, taking a lead of 194 runs. On the first day they had dismissed India A for 135. Resuming from 43 for 0, openers, Cameron Bancroft and Usman Khawaja added 111 for the first wicket before Khawaja (33) was dismissed by Pragyan Ojha. The left-arm spinner returned to scalp two more wickets in quick succession, those of Joe Burns and Peter Handscomb, wrestling the initiative back for the Indians. At stumps, Ojha’s figures were 32-2-99-3.
Bancroft, however, steadily carried the Australia A innings on his shoulders with a patient and attractive 150. He scored 16 fours and a six while doing so before Baba Aparajith dismissed him with the help of a Virat Kohli catch. Aparajith finished the day with 5 for 74 off his 23 overs. Callum Ferguson (54) brought up the second highest score of the innings after Bancroft’s mammoth ton before being caught by Karun Nair off the bowling of Shreyas Gopal. Gurinder Sandhu blasted his way to a 27-ball 36 with two fours and four sixes in a lower-order attack. At stumps on Day-two, Stephen O’Keefe (6*) and Andrew Fekete (0*) were at the crease for Australia A.
