Hughes, Doolan take top honours in a draw
The second match of the 4-day Test between Australia A and India A ended in a draw in Brisbane on Day 4. Phillip Hughes and Alex Doolan took guard on the final day and successfully managed to post an unbeaten 202-run stand at the end of day’s play. With both the Tests drawn, the four-day match Test series ended in draw. Earlier in the day, resuming their second innings, Australia A surpassed India A’s 78-run lead before lunch. Batting at a steady pace, Hughes scored a half-century while Doolan was one run short of his fifty as they took Australia A to 114 at the end of the first session. With the possibility of a result in the match ruled out, the Hughes-Doolan pair continued to pile on runs and helped their side take a 124-run lead. Thereafter, rain played spoilsport for the rest of the session and the match was called off with Hughes unbeaten on 100 and Doolan on 91. India A will now play a Quadrangular A-Team One-day Series from July 20, 2014.
