Baroda outplayed Saurashtra to claim a thumping 26-run win after captain Yusuf Pathan set the stage with a blistering half-century. His blitzkrieg in the latter half of the innings after a circumspect start helped Baroda to 142 for seven. Yusuf then marshaled his forces to bowl the opposition out for 116. Earlier, Kedar Devdhar returned to the pavilion in the fourth over with 16 runs on the board, and four overs later, his opening partner Aditya Waghmode followed him back. Continuing to chip away at the Saurashtra bowling, Baroda reached 50 in 10 overs. Hardik Pandya who had starred in Baroda’s victory the previous night against Gujarat was stumped off Arpit Vasavada leaving the team on 57 for three in the 12th over. The innings was plodding along at a steady pace when Yusuf Pathan unleashed himself on the Saurashtra attack. Preferring the on-side, he slammed two sixes and two fours to collect 22 from the 14th over. Vasavada, who had until then conceded 20 runs in three overs for one wicket, found himself at the receiving end of Yusuf’s onslaught. One six, lofted over long on disappeared over the roof at the pavilion end and the ball had to be replaced. An over later, Jaydev Unadkat was struck by the big-hitting Baroda captain for six to take the team past 100. Yusuf then timed the ball through covers for four more. The fourth-wicket partnership was worth 53 when Kuldeep Raval struck to remove R Solanki. Bhushan Chauhan caught the ball at long-on as R Solanki looked to clear the fence. On the next ball, Raval clipped Irfan Pathan’s bails to send him back for a duck; he was on a hat-trick but was denied by Krunal Pandya. Jaydev Unadkat who had changed ends to deliver his last over accounted for Krunal’s wicket to leave Baroda on 120 for six in the penultimate over. Deepak Hooda, who then came out to the middle, launched into the bowling. He hit Abhishek Bhat for a six between deep mid-wicket and long-on, while Yusuf brought up his half-century with a six over the sight screen. However, the Baroda skipper was caught at deep extra cover for 54 off the next ball, and later Pinal Shah struck off the last delivery of the innings for a four over square-leg. With 20 runs coming off the over, Baroda posted 142 for seven. Irfan Pathan then claimed Cheteshwar Pujara in his second over, while Sheldon Jackson was sent back in the next by Munaf Patel. 12 runs later, Chauhan too returned; he was caught by Deepak Hooda off L Meriwala. In his next over, he had Vasavada caught while looking to cut the ball. With the team on 49 for four, Prithivalpal Solanki joined Jaydev Shah in the middle. With boundaries hard to come by, the pair continued to pick singles and twos as the innings progressed. The Saurashtra captain was run out trying to sneak in a single leaving the team on 75 for five at the end of 13 overs. With 68 runs required off 42 balls, Raval joined Prithivipal in the middle. A bit later though, Prithivalpal was castled by Hardik who then bowled Kamlesh Makwana off the next. Dharmendra Jadeja and Raval then took the team past 100 but Munaf Patel returned to dismiss Jadeja and bring Baroda within sniffing distance of victory. With Baroda needing two wickets, Krunal caught Raval off his own bowling to leave the opposition on 110 for nine. And six runs later, Bhat was run out in the penultimate over, bringing the curtains down on the game.

South Zone Karnataka vs Kerala: Bowlers led Kerala to a 20-run win against Karnataka. Earlier, after Kerala elected to bat first, the Vinay Kumar-led attack restricted them to 124 for six. Vinay Kumar, who finished with three wickets, claimed both openers to reduce Kerala to six for two. However, R Prem's 44 not-out helped the team to 124. The Kerala bowlers then sliced through the Karnataka line-up in 18.4 overs. Padmanabhan Prasanth took three wickets, while Manu Krishnan and Rakesh KJ took two wickets apiece and V A Jagdeesh and R Prem picked a wicket each. North Zone DDCA vs Punjab: A 35-ball 67 by Virender Sehwag powered Delhi to a six-wicket win against Punjab. Chasing 175, Gautam Gambhir and Sehwag laid the platform with a 78-run opening stand. After Gambhir's departure for 40, Sumit Narwal helped carry the innings forward. Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Punjab posted 174 for seven. Manan Vohra was the top-scorer for Punjab with 41 runs.

West Zone Mumbai vs Maharashtra: Mumbai lost to Maharashtra by 30 runs while chasing the VJD revised 144-run target in their 18 overs-a-side match. The Mumbai line-up was held to 113 for seven by the Shrikant Mundhe-led attack at Wankhede Stadium after Maharashtra posted a competitive total. Harshad Khadiwale (47) and Vijay Zol (48) built a solid platform to set up the game for Maharashtra. Kedar Jadhav and Rahul Tripathi capitalised on the opening stand to take the team to 139 for two in the must-win match. Their bowlers then dominated by striking at regular intervals to keep Mumbai in check.
