UPCA U19 clinch the Cooch Behar title with 1st innings lead
UPCA Under-19 lifted the 2013-14 Cooch Behar trophy on the basis of their first innings lead against Baroda Under-19 in the drawn final at Kanpur. Electing to bat first, the Uttar Pradesh colts batted for over two days and piled on 546 runs in the first innings. R V Mishra (122) and Almas S Ali (103) put together 181 runs for the first wicket. Later, middle-order batsman Rinku K Singh scored 155 before being bowled out by RT Arothe. Besides the three centurions, MM Raza made 62 while the rest of the lineup returned without any substantial contributions as UP raised a mountainous total in their first innings. After the dominating show by the batsmen, the UP bowlersm led by V H Choudhary, bowled Baroda out for 144 in 79.4 overs. Choudhary was the destructor in chief with 8 for 35. KV Jaiswal and Mishra chipped in with a wicket each. When stumps were drawn on the match, UPCA were 153 for 2 in their second innings.
