After a rain-curtailed first day, the Nehru Stadium in Kochi witnessed a run fest on second day. A well compiled century by Unmukt Chand and 95 by Ian Dev Singh before retiring hurt saw North Zone register 329 runs in the first innings.

Earlier, Ashoke Dinda claimed Jiwanjot Singh after the North Zone opener had added just six runs to his overnight total. With the team on 50 for the loss of one wicket, Singh joined Chand in the middle and the duo garnered runs to strengthen the team’s position and lay a solid foundation. While Singh retired hurt, Chand was sent back by Shahbaz Nadeem for 116.

When play ended Mandeep Singh was batting on 40 with Rajat Paliwal on 41 at the other end.
