Mohit, Vohra, Rayudu shine as India A beat Aus NPS by 6 wickets
India A registered a six-wicket win over Australia National Performance Squad in their third league game of the Quadrangular One-day series in Australia. Manan Vohra (88) and Ambati Rayudu (70*) helped the side overhaul the target comfortably after the Mohit Sharma-led attack restricted NPS to 217. Earlier, Mohit gave India A their first breakthrough after NPS opted to bat first at the Gardens Oval in Darwin. The medium-pacer sent back opener Matthew Short with 50 runs on the board while Karn Sharma followed up with the wicket of Cameron Bancroft. The Indian seamers struck at regular intervals to deny the opposition substantial partnerships. With the exception of Travis Head, who scored a half-century, the rest of the batsmen returned without making any sizeable contribution. Mohit claimed four wickets while Dhawal Kulkarni, Rishi Dhawan and Karn Sharma picked a wicket each. Akshar Patel chipped in with two middle-order wickets to hold the home team to 217 for nine. Chasing the total, the tourists lost captain Robin Uthappa early in the innings. Manish Pandey and Manoj Tiwary too followed him back leaving India A 88 for three. But, Vohra anchored the innings to take India A to 196 before being sent back by Jason Behrendorff. He was involved in a 108-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Rayudu, who then helped the team attain the target with Sanju Samson. Brief scores: Aus. NPS 217/9 in 50 overs (T Head 56, M Sharma 4/48) lost to India A 218/4 in 38 overs (M Vohra 88, A Rayudu 70*) by 6 wickets.
