Report: Ind ‘A’ vs SA ‘A’ – 2nd Match, Day 1
Summary

Indian spinners dismiss SA ‘A’ for 260; Axar claims five-for

The India ‘A’ spin-trio bowled South Africa ‘A’ out for 260 on Day 1 of the second unofficial Test after electing to bat at the Krishnagiri Stadium. Axar Patel claimed five while Jayant Yadav and Karn Sharma claimed three and two wickets respectively to wrap up the visitors first innings on the first day. After the visitors elected to bat in the four-day game, Patel ended the opening stand for 58 by accounting for Reeza Hendricks earlier in the day. While opener Stiaan van Zyl (96) continued to hold up one end while the Indian spinners continued to strike at regular intervals at the other. Yadav had Gihahan Cloete caught by Vijay Shankar 49 runs later, while Karn Sharma ended the third wicket stand by dismissing Omphile Ramela a bit later. The rest of the line-up returned without any significant contributions after that. At 185 for three Temba Bavuma joined van Zyl in the middle but the opener was the next to be sent back by Yadav who also claimed the key wicket of Quinton de Kock in his following over. Coming lower down the order de Kock was sent back for naught. The SA ‘A’ lower-order then folded by the end of the day. Although Dane Vilas chipped in with 24 there were two more ducks in the line-up as the team was bowled out in 89.5 overs signaling the end of day’s play. End of Day 1: SA ‘A’ 1st inn 260 all out in 89.5 overs (S van Zyl 96, A Patel 5/92, J Yadav 3/53)
