West Indies A were leading by 314 runs with seven wickets in hand in the second innings at stumps at the end of third day’s play of the first four-day game against India A. After Veerasammy Permaul and Nikita Miller wrecked the India A middle and lower orders, the visitors were comfortably placed at 130 for three in the second innings.

Earlier, resuming on the overnight score of 124 for three, India A were bowled out for 245 in their first innings. Manprit Juenja, who was three runs short of his half-century when play resumed in the morning, was the first to depart for 84 and he was followed back to the hut by Rajat Paliwal. While Juneja was trapped leg-before by Permaul, Miller followed up with the wickets Rajat Paliwal, Harshad Khadiwale and Parvez Rasool to leave the home team tottering on 204 for seven. Permaul then wrapped up the tail by dismissing Mohammed Shami, Ishwar Pandey and Ashoke Dinda.

In reply, the Kirk Edwards-led visiting team got off to a good start in their second innings. Kraigg Brathwaite and Kieran Powell put together 112 runs, before the latter handed a return catch to Paliwal. Without adding to the total, Brathwaite departed in the next over. Rasool, who accounted for Brathwaite, also castled Narsingh Deonarine to end the day’s play.
