Report: Ind A vs WI A, 1st four-day game, Day 4
Summary

Visitors take 1-0 series lead with 162-run win

West Indies A beat India A by 162 runs in the first four-day game of the three-match series. While left-arm spinners Nikita Miller (five wickets), Veerasammy Permaul (three wickets) claimed eight wickets between them, off-spinner Narsingh Deonarine chipped in with two wickets to bowl the hosts out for 152.

The touring side declared their second innings on the overnight total of 130, setting India A a 315-run target at the Gangothri Glades Cricket Ground in Mysore. The West Indies A spinners then ran through the hosts line-up in 85.4 overs on the final day to get off to a winning start in the series.

Miller got the ball rolling with the wicket of Lokesh Rahul, while Permaul followed up with the wicket of Jiwanjot Singh. They continued to strike at regular intervals, not letting India A get a foot in the door. Although Manprit Juneja put up a valiant fight with a 193-ball 70-run knock prolonging the India A innings, he couldn’t find enough support at the other end to carry the team through to a possible draw.

Juneja, who was also the top-scorer for his team in the first innings, was the last man to depart, trapped leg-before by Miller.

The two teams will now play from October 2 to 5.
