Centurions Gambhir, Pujara put Ind A on top
India A were leading by 66 runs in the first innings with seven wickets in hand at stumps in the third four-day game against West Indies A at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground.
Although opener VA Jagdeesh departed after adding just eight runs to his overnight score, Gautam Gambhir and Cheteshwar Pujara laid a solid foundation for the hosts. The duo milked the opposition bowlers to add 207 runs for the second wicket. Their flourishing partnership was halted by Narsingh Deonarine who castled the left-handed India A opener for 123. With the team on 242, Virender Sehwag joined the India A captain in the middle was sent back by Nikita Miller for 38.
However, Pujara continued to anchor the innings and was unbeaten 139 with Abhishek Nayar on 10 when play ended on the second day.
