Mumbai take the title with a narrow first-innings lead

Mumbai lifted the Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy on the basis of a four-run first innings lead against Punjab in the final in Mohali. Asked to bat first, Mumbai were powered to 466 by Khizar Dafedar (106) and Sarfaraz Khan (120) in the first innings. Punjab's Jagjit Singh picked 3/113 while Sukhwinder Singh took 2/108. The hosts were then kept in the fray by Anmolpreet Singh's 128 and Arpit Pannu's 114. However, the Sidak Singh-led Mumbai attack bowled the opposition out on the last morning for 462 to seize a marginal first innings lead. Singh claimed 5/129 while A Mohammad took 2/81 and A Kuershi, J Bista and Dafedar chipped in with a wicket each. On the nerve-wracking last day's play, Mumbai folded for 188. O Jadhav's unbeaten 52 was the highest score for the visitors in the innings. Sukhwinder Singh ran through the Mumbai top-order and finished with 5/60 while Karan Bhargav and Jagjit Singh picked two wickets each. Chasing 193, Punjab then had a go at the target but the match ended in a draw later in the evening with the home side on 162/6. Anmolpreet Singh remained unbeaten on 55 while Sidak picked 2/34.
