Report: Tri Series, Ind ‘A’ vs SA ‘A’ – 6th OD
Summary

Agarwal, Pandey star in 34-run win for India ‘A’

India ‘A’ booked a place in the final of the Triangular series with a 34-run win over South Africa ‘A’ in Chennai. Propelled by Mayank Agarwal’s 176 and Manish Pandey’s unbeaten 108 off 85, the Unmukt Chand-led team set the opposition a mammoth 372-run target. Although Quinton de Kock led a fight back with a century, the India ‘A’ kept them to 337 for six to pull off a win. Axar Patel’s three for 32 in the high-scoring match including the key wicket of de Kock helped India defend the target. Asked to bat in the last match of the league phase as the teams fought for a place in the final against Australia ‘A’, the India ‘A’ innings was set on course with a 106-run opening stand between Agarwal and Chand. After the captain was sent back by Keshav Maharaj for 64, Pandey joined the opener in taking on the opposition’s bowlers. Scoring at a brisk pace the No. 3 bat helped take India past the 300-run mark. The home team were comfortably poised on 309 when Agarwal returned to the pavilion in the 46th over. Karun Nair then added 10 runs before being run out with three balls left in the innings. Pandey, however, remained unbeaten as India finished with a mountainous total on board.

de Kock then scored a 86-ball 113 as SA ‘A’ looked to chase down the target. Although Reeza Hendricks scored 76 and Khaya Zondo made 60-ball 86 lower down the order, the visiting side could not over haul the target as the Indian attack struck at regular intervals.
