On the first day of the Inter-state one-day league, Assam and Bengal won on the basis of the VJD system. Joginder Sharma and Umesh Yadav claimed five-wicket hauls for Haryana and Vidarbha respectively. Here is the roundup for the day. South Zone Andhra vs Karnataka: Karnataka registered a thumping six-wicket win over Andhra Pradesh. Opting to field first, the Vinay Kumar-led attack bundled Andhra out for 97. Vinay Kumar claimed three for nine, while Manish Pandey picked three for 25. Robin Uthappa then made 54 as Karnataka chased down the target in 23.2 overs and claimed four points from the match. Goa vs Tamil Nadu: After their bowlers tilted the match in TN's favour by bowling Goa out for 122, Murali Vijay powered his team to a seven-wicket win. When Goa opted to bat, M Mohammed and Rahil Shah picked three wickets each, while Yo Mahesh took two and Vijay Shanka claimed one as they ran through the Goa line-up. Vijay then scored unbeaten 66 to take the team across the line for the loss of three wickets. Hyderabad v Kerala: Having bowled Kerala out for 107, Hyderabad coasted to a nine-wicket win. After A Absolem got the ball rolling with the wicket of N Surendran, Pragyan Ojha claimed four to bundle the opposition out for a subpar total. Absolem finished with two wickets, while Amol Shinde also claimed two and M Ravi Kiran chipped in with one. TL Suman then led the charge with the bat and remained not out on 61 as Hyderabad chased down the target. East Zone Assam vs Tripura: Assam won by 80 runs, courtesy the VJD System, against Tripura in Ranchi. Electing to field first, Assam bowled Tripura out for 166 in 46.4 overs. Abu Nechim Ahmed claimed four wickets in the process. Assam then made 148 for one in 29.3 overs. With their target revised to 69 from 29.3 overs, they were declared winners by 80 runs. Bengal vs Odisha: Bengal won by 38 runs thanks to the VJD system. West Zone Baroda vs Mumbai: In a high-scoring game at the Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Ground in Rajkot, Baroda secured a 44-run victory over Mumbai. Powered by Kedar Devdhar's 148, Baroda scored 346 for three after opting to bat first. Devdhar was ably supported by opening partner Saurabh Wakaskar (63) and Yusuf Pathan (53 off 34 balls). Although Mumbai's top order worked to put up a fight, the lower order fell to Irfan Pathan for single-digit scores as the team was bowled out for 302. While Sushant Marathe made 77 at the top of the order, Abhishek Nayar was stranded on 65 as the lower order collapsed. Ketan Panchal and Mayank Vahora claimed two apiece, while Irfan picked three wickets. North Zone Delhi vs J&K: A 38-run victory over J&K earned Delhi four points. Asked to bat first, Gautam Gambhir and Unmukt Chand put together 99 for the first wicket. That partnership helped Delhi set J&K a 257-run target. Both openers were removed by Parvez Rasool, while Ram Dayal picked two and Waseem Raza took three wickets. The Delhi bowlers then bowled the opposition out for 218. Sumit Narwal, Vikas Tokas and Milind Kumar claimed two wickets apiece. Haryana vs Punjab: Courtesy Joginder Sharma's fiver, Haryana pulled off a seven-run win in Delhi. In a match reduced to 32 overs a side, Haryana posted 153 for eight after electing to bat first. Opener Avi Barot made 55, while Nitin Saini made 27. Joginder Sharma then ran through the top and middle orders of Punjab. Although Gurinder Singh and Manpreet Gony put up a late fight, they could not save the day for Punjab after the early blows. Himachal Pradesh vs Services: Services claimed an 11-run win on the first day of the Inter-state one-day league. After electing to bat first, they were helped to 233 for nine by opener Devender Lochab (73) and middle-order batsman Rajat Paliwal (41). Defending the target, A Sakuja took three, while D Pathania, Sumit Singh and A Sinha claimed two wickets each. Paliwal chipped in with one to bowl HP out for 222. Sumeet Verma (60) was the top-scorer for HP, while Bipul Sharma added 44 lower down the order. Central Zone UPCA vs Railways: In a match reduced to 20 overs a side, UPCA posted a 22-run win over Railways. UP opener E R Dwivedi's unbeaten 57 and PS Gupta's 40 helped the team set Railways a 137-run target. Their bowlers then restricted Railways to 114 for eight and claim victory. A Mishra picked three, while Piyush Chawla claimed two and Imtiyaz Ahmed and A Nath took one wicket each. Rajasthan vs Vidarbha: A five-wicket haul by Umesh Yadav and three wickets by G Upadhyay helped set up the match in Vidarbha's favour. As a result, they bowled Rajasthan out for 181 and then sailed to a seven-wicket win in Jaipur. Faiz Fazal smashed an unbeaten 102 to take Vidarbha across the line.
