Summary
Shaun Pollock feels India are in complete control of the match
At the end of first day’s play, one thought may be the game is in the balance, but India on day-two dominated in the early session with Ajinkya Rahane and R Ashwin taking the score past the 330-mark. The South African opening batsmen made a decent start, but were rocked by the performance of the Indian bowlers. At the end of day-two, South Africa are totally on the backfoot. India have not enforced the follow-on so what can we expect on day-three? I think India can come out and play with complete confidence. They can be really aggressive. They don’t have to worry about being bowled out as they have enough runs on the board.
Hashim Amla will have to set defensive fields and try and limit the damage as much as possible. There is nothing that they can do. India have dominated this Test and the series and you expect more of the same.
It will all boil down to when Virat Kohli decides he has enough runs and puts the pressure back on the South Africans. He can just be aggressive and put the visitors’ spinners under pressure. He can pull out once the total is near 450 and with an hour to go, to see how many wickets they can pick up. I can’t see South Africa coming back from this one.
