Star India Pvt. Ltd win Rights for Audio-Visual Production Services
Summary

This post examines the BCCI's award of audio-visual production rights to Star India for IPL 2018 and the 2018–19 domestic season.

  • The author reports that Star India won the RFP for live audio-visual production services, securing contractual rights specifically for IPL Season 2018 and the Domestic Cricket Season 2018–19, marking a single-season guaranteed term per the Services Agreement.

  • The post highlights BCCI’s contractual flexibility: while the initial agreement covers one IPL and one domestic season, the board explicitly reserves options to extend for IPL 2019 and Domestic 2019–20, and can further extend to IPL 2020 at its discretion.

  • By noting the formal communication from Amitabh Choudhary (Acting Hon. Secretary, BCCI), the post underscores the official and binding nature of the award and the procedural adherence to an RFP-driven selection for live-match production services.

Star India Pvt. Ltd on Monday, 19th February 2018, won the rights for audio-visual production services for IPL and BCCI Domestic Cricket for the 2018-19 season. The BCCI had invited Request For Proposal (RFP) documents for services relating to the live production of all matches for IPL Season 2018 and Domestic Cricket Season 2018-19. The service agreement and the contract term will cover one season of the IPL (2018) and one season of Domestic Cricket (2018-2019). The BCCI, however, reserves the right to extend the term for one more Season of IPL (2019) and one more Season of Domestic Cricket (2019-2020) and at its discretion, further extend the term to include IPL Season 2020, as provided for in the Services Agreement.
