Stats Highlights, Eng v Ind - 1st Test, Day 5
Summary

Anderson, Broad help inflict another defeat over India at Lord's

London, July 25: When Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman took guard for India on Day 5 of the much talked about Lord’s Test, a drawn result seemed a distinct possibility. But James Anderson, with a crucial five-wicket haul, including that of the Little Master, all but set victory up for the hosts. MS Dhoni’s record as Test captain was hard done by a mammoth 196-run loss in the series opener even as India reinforced the ‘slow starters’ tag. A look at the numbers that matter from the final day of the 2000th Test.

  • James Anderson has now dismissed Sachin Tendulkar on six occasions in Test cricket, as many times as Australians Jason Gillespie and Glenn McGrath. Only Muttiah Muralitharan has dismissed the Little Master on more occasions (8).

  • Before he got out, Tendulkar was stuck on 11 runs for 47 minutes and 38 balls.

  • Tendulkar's strike-rate of 17.64 is his fourth lowest in an innings where he faced at least 50 balls. The details:
