All-round Bresnan helps inflict massive defeat over India
Nottingham, Aug 1: Winning by 319 runs and with a day to spare – a thought the England side would hardly have entertained after trailing India in the first innings. But such was the hosts’ dominance on Day 4 that the resounding win seemed perfectly reasonable. Indian skipper Dhoni now has lost two Tests of a series for the first time in his tenure while England ride high on a exceptional performance. The day’s story in numbers.
· Tim Bresnan’s 90 was the second highest score by an England player at No. 8 against India after Craig White’s unbeaten 94, also at Nottingham, in 2002.
· England’s total of 544 was the second highest total by any side against India in its second innings. The highest ever is 599 for seven declared by Pakistan at Karachi in 2005-06. The details:

· Stuart Broad scored 108 runs and took eight wickets in the match, becoming the fifth England all-rounder to accomplish this double feat in the same match. The player to do this was Ian Botham against West Indies at Lord’s in 1984. Incidentally, Botham has performed this feat on four occasions.
