England skipper and key spinner latest England...

Chennai, March 15: ICC World Cup 2011 has been troubled by injuries to players since the squads were announced and the England team has had its fair share of injury woes. In Chennai for their match against West Indies, skipper Andrew Strauss and spinner Graeme Swann missed Tuesday's practice with a stomach bug. But England are confident that the captain and key player will recover in time to play in their final league game on March 17.

Jonathan Trott, who himself suffered a bout of illness during the tournament, was quoted as saying, "I'm pretty confident they will be all right. These things normally [take] 24 or 48 hours. I could give you a better idea tomorrow if they train." He added, "They're two key players and would be in anybody's team.”

Speaking about his own illness, he said, "It's one of those things. You go from sweating on the field into cold air-con and stuff like that. I'm not 100% today but I should be tomorrow."

England Skipper Andrew Strauss had complained of fatigue and the playing schedule before the ICC World Cup 2011. His team has been fraught with problems ever since. Eoin Morgan (now back in the team) was the first casualty due to injury after the squad was announced.

Halfway through the tournament they had to let go of their star all-rounder and makeshift opener Kevin Pietersen due to aggravated hernia concerns and pacer Stuart Broad due to side strain.

The team would look to address all fitness issues before the knockout stages just around the corner.
