T20 captain calls Steven Finn ‘shining star of tour’
Kolkata, October 29: After losing each of the five ODIs, the visiting England side clinched the sole Twenty20 game in style with a good all-round performance. Accepting the trophy on behalf of his team, Graeme Swann praised his seamers and Kevin Pietersen for their effort at the Eden Gardens.
Excerpts from the post-match presentation
On the solitary win of the tour
It’s good to win one. It’s been a very tough month for us and we played some horrible cricket in the five ODIs. But today we all came together quite nicely. Our seam bowlers were outstanding and then, of course, the way KP batted was phenomenal.
On Steven Finn’s performance right through the tour
He’s been the shining star for us right through the last month. Today I bowled him out because I needed wickets and he responded superbly, reverse swinging the ball at good pace. There’s not a lot more you can ask for as a captain.
On the way forward for the team
I think it’s important to believe that we can win. Yes, we definitely need to improve on our game as we played some poor cricket here. We lost five games and one win doesn’t make it a good summer.
