SB Pradhan stars in Odisha win

Odisha beat Delhi, while UPCA defeated Karnataka on the third day of the ongoing super league for the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy 2012-13. Here is the round-up for the day:

T20 Super League – A

Delhi vs Odisha: After the SB Pradhan-led Odisha bowling attack bundled out Delhi for 80 runs, their batsmen achieved the target with eight balls to spare. Left-arm pacer Pradhan claimed the Delhi top-order to finish with a four-wicket haul; meanwhile AN Yadav picked two and DR Behera and B B Samantaray took a wicket apiece. Opening the batting for Odisha, Yadav made 26, while G Podder made 25 to help their team to victory.

Gujarat vs Vidarbha: Gujarat posted a three-wicket win against Vidarbha at Indore in the ongoing domestic Twenty20 Super League. Opting to bat first, Vidarbha set Gujarat a 157-run target, which the opposition achieved with five balls to spare. Despite losing both the openers early on, top order bat NK Patel, and K Jesal who came lower down the order, took Gujarat to victory. Both batsmen contributed 47 runs each to help their team claim four points from the encounter.

T20 Super League - B

UPCA vs Karnataka: UPCA registered a 10-run win over Karnataka in Indore. After being put in to bat first, Mohd. Kaif propelled Uttar Pradesh to 163 for seven with a 54-ball 70, studded with four sixes and three boundaries. Defending the modest total, RP Singh got the ball rolling with the wicket of Karnataka opener MK Pandey, while Praveen Kumar followed up with a double blow to leave the opposition reeling on 31 for three. And although K Lokesh and Stuart Binny added 67 for the fourth wicket, Karnataka kept losing wickets at regular intervals after the latter was run-out and were not able to attain the target.

Karnataka vs Bengal: Karnataka chased down 152 with four balls to spare and registered a four-wicket win against Bengal on the penultimate day of the Super League. SJ Mandal (42) and lower-order batters DB Das (31) and AA Nandi (37) helped Bengal to 151 for seven after electing to bat first. Chasing the modest target, Karnataka opener Robin Uthappa made 41 and K Lokesh scored 51. Also, there were valuable contributions by M Pandey and Stuart Binny that ensured a Karnataka win.
