Kiwi middle-order batsman is upbeat after seeing the pitch conditions in Hyderabad
Hyderabad, Nov 10:New Zealand middle-order batsman Ross Taylor on Thursday said that the Black Caps will take a lot of positives from the resilience displayed in the Ahmedabad Test.
“Both sides scored in excess of 400 in the first innings but we had the upper-hand at stumps on the fourth day, courtesy Chris Martin with his lethal spell. But Harbhajan and V.V.S. Laxman played well to take the game away,” Taylor said.
Speaking about the comeback made by some of his teammates after the shocking loss in Bangladesh, Taylor said, “Having been part of the series loss to Bangladesh, there was a fair amount of criticism that came our way, which motivated the boys. We wanted to put up a good fight which we did in the first Test and will hopefully carry that into the other matches as well.”
Commenting on the wicket at Hyderabad, Taylor said, “The wicket in Ahmedabad was not very helpful but we are expecting different pitch conditions here.”
“It will probably have a little more bounce and take more turn. It does not seem to be as flat as it was in Ahmedabad and we are taking a lot of confidence from that.”
Taylor said fast bowler Chris Martin, whose five-wicket haul in India's second innings at Ahmedabad gave a tough time to the hosts, will get good purchase from the Hyderabad wicket.
“Martin picked those five wickets on a track which had nothing to offer to the bowlers. But the wicket here is fresh and that should help him. Hopefully, Martin will show the form he did in Ahmedabad,” Taylor said.
“We've all had a close look at India's batsmen and bowlers, so we are going to attack them more this time and try and put them under a little bit of pressure,” he added
