West Indies A avoided a 3-0 whitewash in the four-day format against India A with the third and final match ending in a draw. Chasing a mighty 373-run target, West Indies finished at 314/6 when stumps were drawn on the final day with Jeremy Solozano and Brandon King hitting gritty half-centuries. The day started with hosts at 37-0, lost their first wicket when Shahbaz Nadeem had Montcin Hodge (25) caught by captain Hanuma Vihari. After getting the first wicket with 68 on the board, Indian bowlers had to toil hard as King’s resistance meant 99 runs were added before the second wicket fell. Once again it was Nadeem, who got the breakthrough by breaking through the defence of King.

With the third wicket pair adding 60 runs in 21.1 overs, it looked largely certain that match would end in a draw. Nadeem was once again outstanding and he picked his fifth wicket of Sunil Ambris (69). The Jharkhand left-arm spinner played two of the three games in the series and picked up three five-wicket hauls. Earlier, Day 3 belonged to India’s batsmen as Shubman Gill became youngest Indian to score a first-class double century away from home. Vihari too joined the party and got a century as the two put on a big stand. Having started the day on his overnight score of 2 runs, Gill was striking the ball beautifully and brought up his century in the first session. Gill and Vihari resurrected the Indian innings and the duo produced an unbeaten 315-run stand for the fifth wicket. India A declared on 365 for 4 soon after Gill scored his double ton. It was a fine comeback by the talented youngster who was out for a duck in the first innings. His unbeaten knock of 204 was laced with 19 fours and two sixes, with a strike rate of 82.25. VIhari, who scored a half-century in the first innings, hit 10 boundaries.
