Raina opts to bowl first; Pollard in for WI
Trinidad, June 8: Anxious to even the five match ODI series, West Indies get set to host India in the second ODI at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain. Speaking on the wicket, West Indies legend Jeff Dujon opined, “The wicket has the same texture as the one in the first ODI which means the spinners will dominate.”
India captain Suresh Raina won the toss for the first time on this tour and had no hesitation in opting to bowl first. India are fielding an unchanged squad from the previous game. West Indies, on the other hand, are playing Kieron Pollard in place of Darren Bravo.
Captain speak:
Suresh Raina (India):
On the decision to bowl first: “It’s always good to chase in Trinidad because if you see the previous game, whoever has chased has won.”
Darren Sammy (West Indies):
On what would he have done if he had won the toss: “We too would have bowed first but we’ve been asked to bat so we’ll try to put up a good total.”
