MC Mohamed stars in UP's 44-run win over MP
Mysore, Nov 15: Riding on MC Mohamed’s gritty century, Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday defeated Madhya Pradesh by 44 runs to win the under-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy 2011-‘12.
Chasing 288 runs, Madhya Pradesh managed 244 in their allotted quota of 50 overs. Shubham Sharma scored a century (104 off 117 balls) to hold the innings together and keep the chase alive but none of the other batsmen contributed to MP’s cause. AJ Dhaliwal smashed 39 off 44 balls but fell to KR Yadav as the middle-order crumbled under pressure.
Mohd. Idrish and SRC Kumar took two wickets each while AA Chauhan, KR Yadav and AS Rajpoot claimed one apiece.
Earlier in the day, Uttar Pradesh posted a total of 288 runs for the loss of eight wickets thanks largely to Mohamed (105 off 145 balls) and AD Nath (88 off 67 balls).
MP’s YB Rawat finished with figures of 7-0-61-3 while AR Shrivastava 10-0-62-2 registered.
