UP, Delhi reach semi-finals
RV Mishra starred in UPCA U-19's win, while Delhi U-19 beat Maharashtra U-19 to book a place in the semi-finals. Here is the round-up for the day: UPCA U-19 vs Mumbai U-19: 110 not-out by RV Mishra helped UPCA U-19 chase down the 235-run target with nine balls to spare against Mumbai U-19 and sail to a seven-wicket win at Ahmedabad. Earlier, after opting to bat first in the knockout game, Mumbai were reeling on 50 for four. But a determined 105 not-out by SN Khan and 42 by AW Usmani helped the team post a respectable total on the board. However, an opening partnership worth 179, between Mishra and RB Rawat (94), edged the Mumbai youngsters out of the game. Although Rawat missed out on a well-deserved ton and UP lost a couple of quick wickets after his departure, Mishra sealed a victory for his team. Delhi U-19 vs Maharashtra U-19: Delhi U-19 beat Maharashtra U-19 by 35 runs in Ahmedabad to progress to the semi-finals of the Under-19 domestic one-day tournament. Opting to bat first, Delhi posted 275 for eight in the quarter-final clash against the Maharashtra colts. Opener SR Ranjan made 42, while HT Singh and PB Bhandari scored 57 each to help the team to a respectable score. Their bowlers, Rajesh Sharma (five for 51) and Sarang Rawat (three for 47), then helped bowl the opposition out in 47.4 overs. While the top order failed to build substantial partnerships and convert starts into bigger scores, the lower order succumbed without offering much resistance. MS Trunkwala was the leading run-scorer for Maharashtra U-19 with 58.
