WI announce squad for Test series
Summary

Adrian Barath returns to squad

Mumbai, Nov 1: West Indies have announced their 15-man squad for the three-match Test series against India which commences on November 6 at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi.

Adrian Barath, absent from West Indies’ Test squad for the ongoing tour of Bangladesh owing to a hamstring injury sustained during the ODIs, returns to the Test side for the India tour. Lendl Simmons, who had replaced the injured Barath in the squad, will consequently return to the West Indies after the Bangladesh ODIs. There are no other changes to the squad currently in Bangladesh.

Barath, who had played all three Test matches when India had toured West Indies earlier in the year, had a dismal run in that series with only one half-century to show from six innings.

Darren Sammy will lead West Indies on their tour to India, which includes pacers Ravi Rampaul and Kemar Roach. Legspinner Devendra Bishoo and offspinner Shane Shillingford are the spin options available to the Carribbean outfit. Carlton Baugh will be the first choice wicketkeeper for the side with Denesh Ramdin available as a second wicketkeeping option.

With Barath expected to open the innings, Darren Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Marlon Samuels will likely shoulder middle-order responsibilities.

The Delhi Test will be followed by a Test each in Kolkata and Mumbai and followed by a five-match ODI series between the two sides.
