Flamboyant cricketers takebanter to social media space
London, Aug 5: Yuvraj Singh and Kevin Pietersen have renewed their rivalry on a social media platform after the former was ruled out of the remaining two Tests of the four-match series against England.Yuvraj has lost the opportunity to play the last two Tests due to a finger injury sustained during the second Test at Trent Bridge.Singh has been replaced by ViratKohli for the third Test at Edgbaston.
News of the Singh’s unavailability for the last two Tests stoked the South Africa born top-order England batsmanto post a snide comment on Twitter.
Pietersen, who has oftenbeen the victim of Yuvraj Singh’s bowling, tweeted, “I see my mate @yuvsingh09 is out the tests. No more chicken & mushrooms or steak & ales for me now. Pity! They tasted good in Notts! haha."
Pietersen’s jibe was with reference to the ‘pie-chucker’ tag that the English batsman had famously given to the southpaw during the 2008 Test series in England.
Yuvraj tweeted back with characteristic wit:"@kevinpp24 hahaha..dont worry il be back with a new indian veg pie for you very soon !!”
Yuvrajhad begun the 2011 series on an upbeat note vis a vis the feisty KP. "I know that guy [Kevin Pietersen] well and I am really keen to throw some more pies at him and others around him. And if my pies can contribute and get Pietersen's and some other valuable wickets, I would be really delighted," he had said.
For now, at least, the entertaining badinage will come to an end as the two sides fight it out for the top billing in Tests in the remaining two games.
